About Us

Welcome to the NWLA Martial Arts Academy! First let us say thank you for your
interest in our school (Dojo). We take great pride in offering what we feel is some of
the best, if not the best, martial arts instruction in all of Shreveport and Bossier City
and the surrounding Ark-La-Tex area. We not only strive to keep our standards set
to the highest levels, but we work very hard to keep our instruction as affordable as
possible so anyone that is truly interested can afford to attend classes.

We encourage you to check out other martial arts schools in the local area. Watch
their classes, ask to participate, ask about ALL cost associated with their classes.
Then return to our Dojo and watch one of our classes in comparison. Finally, we
ask that you participate in one of our classes before you make your final
decision on which school you will trust yourself and/or your family’s instruction
to.

We offer instruction in Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate and Traditional Okinawan
Weapons (kobudo). In our Shorin Ryu class curriculum there are also techniques
borrowed from Jujitsu and Judo. All three of these empty handed styles are of
Okinawan and/or Japanese decent, and each has its own strengths and
weaknesses. We believe that in order to be a well rounded student of the martial
arts it is important to at least obtain a working familiarity of the throwing and
grappling techniques of Jujitsu and Judo as they will only compliment the techniques
taught during instruction in Shorin Ryu Karate.
